Pomology

I do find painting apples relaxing. This one is not a real apple but one of those fake ones that I have had for years in my studio. It was just sitting there, a little dusty and looking at me. So there you go, a deceptively fresh looking apple. I love the simplicity of this painting.
By the way, I am going to France on holiday next week for about a month so I will not be posting for several weeks. I hope to come back with renewed inspiration........

  2. "I don't know if it's my monitor but the Apple has a coppery look to it. If you are going to keep the Apple that colour I would compliment it with the opposite colour across the colour wheel, perhaps a combination of blues and greens to compliment and bring a more natural impression. Nothing too bright because it is after all the background."

  3. "I personally really like the apple and the background as is. The only advice I would give is to scale down the reflected light - it is too light. Reflected light should never be as light or lighter than what it is reflecting from, in this case the gray background."

"I think it looks like the poison apple in story books, too good to be true and i really like that. I wouldn't change it. Unless that isn't what you are going for."
